When using a dowsing pendulum, be it wood, crystal or anything else, what we are in fact doing is connecting to our higher wisdom, our Higher Selves!
There is no ‘ Magic’ as such connected to dowsing. When we use a dowsing pendulum we are putting ourselves in the position of ‘opening the channels’ to the Higher wisdom, and this is why we are able to obtain information and answers to questions in this manner.

There is no outside energy or body that is controlling the dowsing pendulum as many people seem to think. We are entirely organising that ourselves, but we are organising it by connecting to that ancient and primal part of ourselves (our Higher Self) which is in turn connected to the great Heartbeat of our universe. In this way we are opening the door to boundless and unlimited knowledge!
A dowsing pendulum is a wonderful tool to put us in touch with our true selves, particularly if it is a crystal with which we especially resonate.

Dowsing (also called divining or Water witching) is a generic term for a set of practices which proponents claim empower them to find water, metals, gem stones, and hidden objects, usually by fluctuations of some apparatus (typically a rod, rods, or pendulum) over a piece of land or a map; some claim to need no apparatus at all but to 'feel' reactions.
Radiesthesia is a practice similar to dowsing that is used for medical diagnosis. It uses a pendulum suspended above a patient. The nature of the swinging, and direction of rotation, is thought to indicate the person's ailment.
It was first developed in Europe in the eighteenth century after its birth in ancient egypt.
Later it was used to locate underground minerals and treasures.
Dr. Solcol W. Tromp wrote about this phenomenon in his book Psychical Physics, a 534 page book published in 1949. 700 titles in the bibliography of the book were devoted to dowsing and radiesthesia.
Dr. Tromp believed that every object in the world has a characteristic "aura", or electromagnetic field that can cause a sensitive person to be able to perform dowsing.
Although Dr. Tromp frowned on "long-distance radiesthesia", there is evidence that the German Navy attempted to use pendulums over large maps of the North Atlantic to locate battleships.
Gerald Gardner, in his book Witchcraft Today (pp.129), refers to his own anecdotal experiences with radiesthesia as evidence supporting the existence of "Witch Power."
